ADVICE TO COLLEGE GRADUATES AND INTERNS: FIND A MENTOR
As we continue our series offering tips for graduates who are starting out in public relations and those who are about to being their summer internships, today Ariella Steinreich, senior vice president of our corporate/issue practice shares her tip –
Congratulations! You’ve either just graduated or finished the semester!
As you embark on your first job or your summer internship, make sure to identify who is going to be a great mentor for you – someone who is a true rockstar and can teach you all of the tricks of the trade. The mentors that have in the formative years of your career will help shape the professional you will become. Soak up all the knowledge they impart and watch how they practice the PR craft and take note of how you can follow in their footsteps and become a rockstar too!.
I’ve learned so much from my mentors over the years and now I share those same tips and tricks with the people I mentor. I’ve been blessed in my career to have so many phenomenal mentors and still keep in touch with them. In fact, I still get together with my mentor from when I was a summer intern (and that was a long time ago!).
